Matt and Kristi Kautz left behind city life in Santa Monica to build their dream in the high desert of Landers, CA. What started as weekend trips to Joshua Tree quickly turned into a life-changing decision when they stumbled across two mid-century homes on ten acres of pristine desert—bordering protected land with views as far as the eye can see.

Drawn in by the landscape, the legends, and a shared love of creative spaces, they transformed the 1950s structures into Starship Landing: a place to reset, recharge, and reconnect—whether mentally, physically, or cosmically.

Kristi is also the founder of Mojave Lu, where she designs ceramics and creates 3D interior renderings. Many of her handmade pieces are featured throughout the Starship houses, bringing a bit of desert magic into each space.

Today, Matt and Kristi live just down the road and feel lucky every day to share this oasis with fellow travelers and dreamers.
